Atwater/Merced Expressway (AME)

The Atwater-Merced Expressway/SR99 Interchange (AME) Project represents the first phase of a much larger economic and transportation development plan.  Born from the Highway 99 Major Investment Study, the "Merced Loop" concept was recognized by the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG) in 1997 to address the need for improved transportation infrastructure to support planned growth, reduce the demands on existing highways, and improve regional connectivity.

The long-term vision for the Atwater-Merced Expressway is to construct a seven mile east-west thoroughfare to better service future developments at UC Merced, Castle Commerce Center, and Ferrari Ranch. The Project's primary purpose is to replace the existing Buhach Road Interchange and improve the operation capacity of SR 99.

Project Role:  Provided construction management services including construction observation, contract administration and project coordination as requested by NV5; integrating the County and construction management team, administrative processes and procedures, and providing supplemental roadway observation.
